Good Evening Guys.
The proposed amendments to the Firearms Control Act 2000 have just 'broken cover' and according to one of our leading Firearm Lawyers are 'terrible'.
No further details are available as yet but one thing is certain ...the amendments will all be to the detriment of decent, law abiding, legal and licenced firearm owners and will do nothing to stop the proliferation of illegal firearms in the hands of criminals.
The ruling ANC has made it perfectly clear that they want to disarm the People of South Africa...The People...not the criminals !

Well that is something we fear here in the US. Sounds like you might be a lot closer than us to having it happen. So sorry to hear. Stay strong.

We hear rumblings from our politicians, but the people here seem to be overwhelmingly against strict gun control. What's the mood of the voters there?

You folks are in the most need of firearms now more than in the last 100 years. I hope that you can defeat the measure and stay free to defend yourselves.

If George Soros is 'one of yours' then the answer is yes.
He funds Gun Free South Africa which seems to have the ear of Government.
SA's President Cyril Ramaphosa and he had a nice little chat recently in New York !

Are not the government and criminals the one and the same?

So it makes sense.

Thank God our forefathers included the Second Amendment in our Constitution.
Amendments to the U.S. Constitution are like Super Laws. Yes, they can be overturned, but not by a simple majority that may be swayed by a recent mass shooting.
To change an amendment you have to get a two-thirds majority in BOTH the U.S. House and the Senate in Washington D.C. Then, the law still has to be ratified by three-fourths of the states (37), passing both the House and the Senate of each state within seven years.
A daunting task. That's why anti-gunners were hoping that they could pack the Supreme Court, and get "creative interpretations" of our laws.
Hopefully, Trump and Bret Cavanaugh will put a stop to that.

Hopefully my comments aren't seen as political. They are intended as a civics lesson.

Unfortunately, the Amendments can be nullified by a simple proclamation by the U.S. Supreme Court. They constantly put limits in areas not authorized by the Constitution (limiting speech, for instance), and they allow Congress to put limits in areas not authorized by the Constitution (NFA, for example). Also, Amendments do not need to be approved by Congress, and there is no time limit for approving Amendments (unless, of course, the Amendment limits itself).

It is getting beyond belief that every government on earth wants to disarm the citizens. Not cool -- not acceptable.
The part that is really beyond belief is that every time something like this comes up, no matter where in the world it is, the name George Soros also comes up.
