Slide lock/magazine issues

I just took my new 1911B to the range today and went through 150 rounds. On four separate occasions the slide did not lock back after the last round was fired. When this occurred I manually locked the slide back and the magazine was difficult to release. With the slide back on all four occasions, when the magazine did manage to disconnect the slide released. I did a full takedown and clean before taking it to the range, is this merely break in issues or is there something I should have looked at? Thanks!

My understanding of the 1911 is that it usually means the magazine spring is weak. Don't quote me on this, somebody else may be able to chime in and help.
Did it happen on the same mag all 4 times?
you may have a minor problem. on my pt1911 i replaced the factory slide stop with an extended. my mags wouldnt drop with the new part. it turns out that the "stub" that the mag follower pushes up to lock the slide was too short. that was the cause of the slide not locking. and when the slide did lock the follower would "run over" the "stub" and that wouldn't allow the mags to drop. when i pulled the mag out it in turn pulled the slide stop down and the slide would fall. it may be as simple a fix as a new slide stop for you. just a place to start and my .02 worth.
Unfortunately I did not pay attention to which one of the mags <or both> were having the problem. I will pay more attention next time and see if it favors a mag or does it with both. If I decide to replace the slide stop can I use a slide stop from any brand (are they all interchangable)? Thanks for the info!
The slide stops should be interchangeable, but some might require minor fitting. It's a conundrum. :???:

Number your mags with a marker or scribe.
Well, the verdict is in......it is one of the mags. One of them consistently fails to lock the slide back after the last round. The other mag works flawlessly. Could I get away with just getting a spring to replace the one in the failing mag? Any suggestions here? Thanks!
I had the same problem with both of the mags that came with my brand new PT1911. I called Taurus and they were familiar with the issue and stated that the followers were the problem. The CS Rep. simply told me to send them to TaurusUSA along with the serial# for replacement. In short order two new mags arrived at my house and they work fine. Very good service from TaurusUSA.
+1 to what Osprey said. Taurus should replace them for you.
