Shotshells in Carbines?

Has anyone tried shooting shotshells in a .357 Magnum carbine? I reload shotshells using the Speer capsules as "snake loads" for my Taurus revolvers. I just got a Rossi .357 Magnum carbine and wondered if I could use the shotshells. I know I would have to single feed them or the capsule would be likely to break, but wondered how they would fare in the longer barrel.

Reloading you own shot shells may seem like a very difficult and complicated process, but like anything with a little practice you will find that reloading is a simple and basically repetitive process.

Jeanine, I already reload shotshells which are relatively easy using the Speer shot capsules. I currently shoot them in my revolvers. My question is whether it is feasible to shoot them in a Rossi carbine with a 20" barrel. Thanks.
They work fine...hand fed.
The pattern isn't much to write about,
but close range [40-50 ft] they start to dwindle.
How much charge you load behind them.....
about medium ?
I too have shot most in a revolver. They just seem
somewhat low-use in my levers.
I have shot a few with OK results from a 14" T/C barrel
but I think they would be much better performers
without the rifling.

Started out with the recommended 4.5 gr of HP-38. Upping load, I found the pattern (from a 4" revolver) was about the same up to 5.0 gr and started up open up a bit more up to 5.5 gr, using #12 shot at 10 feet. There is a post where I showed some pattern sheets in the reloading forum. I'll be interested to see how that follows with the carbine.
