What is the proper bullet diameter for this 45 Colt gun ? .452 ? .454 ? .4515 ? ---- using lead cast 225 grain thru probably 250 grain. Anyone have a favorite powder load amount using Unique, Trail Boss, 231, etc. ? Got a slug of clean empties that I'm bound and determined to do something with, , , , , it's a four inch unit by the way.
Much thanks, VinnyT

Just a thought. The reloading and powder companies all request that older or vintage loading data not be used and that more recent up to date relaoding data and books be used. There are some recipes that may be dangerous or irrelevant in the old books.Telling the safe ones from the unsafe could be problematic. I figure you folks are common sense and that all of the data is not totally invalid, but this has to be considered. Newer reloading manuals would have the old relevant data in them for the most part.

Thats true I had forgotten that. One of the reasons for this is that the powder recepies do change over time, what was once a safe load may not be anymore.
