Today I pick up my Rossi RP63. Probably wait for front sight options from Rossi but hoping I can modify some other wood grips to fit it. Really like 3” barrel revolvers of various calibers. Who knows, I may like the stock grips….

The Rossi front sight was used to make the filler. The tail cut off, trimmed .48 inches long and flattened on the underside. A snug push fit with the thumb. Once the groove and sight tail were cleaned, they were painted with 609 locking compound and pressed back into place. 609 was flooded over the top and allowed to wick into the joints. The excess wiped off. Upon hardening, it expanded into the joints locking the new serrated filler into place. It takes about 350 to 500F (soldering iron works) to break the bond so it should stay in place nicely. Could also drill and pin or use epoxy or solder into place. Could even just fill the mortise with black colored epoxy. IF it pops out I'll holler back.....don't think it will though.

Taking some encouragement from Sharps40, I decided to modify this set of Altamont grips for a Taurus 85 to fit the Rossi. Tapped the large locating pin out of the frame and about 15 minutes with a Dremel and had the grips fitting snug. Dremeled the grips, not the gun…Didn’t need another pin in the frame. The grips have two dowel pins. With the snug fit and the screw, they fit nice and tight. These will do till Rossi sells some proper wood grips !

I think they look pretty good ,no need to even change them .

Nice work on the filler @Sharps40 and nice fitting on the Altamonts to @lincen! They look great!

@lincen that 3" 357 lineup is fantastic! I have been contemplating adding a 3" K6S since they have come down in price, and I have a 4" King Cobra Target on my wants list for next year (and one in 22LR as well)

If all goes well with the RP63, I will add a nitride 4" RM64 or the Stainless version when they finally hit distributors (only nitrided is available now)
