It tends to, but I don't know that it makes it more valuable. The late Interams era is generally the best, IMO, but the two Taurus era .38 Specials I have are fine weapons that I've had no problems with.
The very early Rossi's (Garcia and earlier) aren't as high quality as later guns, IMO, but they can be functionally fine. Your gun is from the best era. I have one just like it, and it works as well or better than most of the 2 dozen Smiths I own (and they're real good.
