Rossi 720!!!!!! Finally......

I had a 720 about 15 years ago. I was young and broke at the time and convinced myself I just couldn't afford to shoot the thing, so I traded it for a Ruger .22! It was instant regret and I've been searching for one since. Well, today I finally brought home my holy grail! I traded a Beretta Neos .22lr and a Spikes Tactical lower for it and couldn't be happier. The one I got today is the DAO version with fluted cylinder. I will post a range report as soon as I find some ammo for it. Once I round up a few boxes of factory ammo, I'll start reloading for it. I have spent the last 14 years looking for another one. I still can't believe I found it. I'm so freaking jazzed right now!

P.S. I'll post some pictures tomorrow!

The DAO is my favorite. I'm traveling for work tonight and mine, loaded with Federal's 200gr lead SWC-HP is laying on the bed beside my elbow while I type.

You found a good one.

Don Hume makes a IWB that fits it. I use a Model 715 made for a 3 inch full underlug Smith and Wesson K/L frame. The HKS CA-44 speedloader works fine.

Congrats on the new-to-you 720 ! 44 special is a very underappreciated round and I for one will look forward to a range report.

Congrats. I'll be looking forward to the pictures.
Good for you Bama, look fwd to viewing the pics. Have fun at the range.
Congrats! Pics please!
Well, it was a longer day than expected at work. I was hoping to get home before the sun went down and get some good pictures in natural light. However, I promised pictures, so here are a couple for now. My 3" M66 (circa 1989) just had to tag along! I'm hoping I can get out to the range this weekend. If so, I will definitely post a range report and more pictures.

Yeah, the 3" M66 is a dream to carry and shoot. I've had that one about 12 years or so. I shoot mostly 357 in it, a couple thousand or better over the years. The trigger on the Rossi is just a bit lighter than the Taurus, but the 66 is smoother. I honestly don't think the 720 has been shot much. There are no signs of powder residue anywhere and the top strap has very few marks at the forcing cone. I hope to put a few rounds through it Saturday if the weather holds out.

It's a DAO. Ain't a lot of folks who knows how to shoot one well.

Throw in that it's a .44 on a .38 frame, so it's got a tendency to get a bit rowdy under recoil, and it getting shot once and thrown into a sock drawer isn't out of the realm of possibility.

The 720 is a Rossi classic for a reason. Mine is a very solid well built revolver. It's DA/SA, which I prefer, but yours is much more carry-able and probably better for self defense. Congrats.
I dunno, the couple of times I've fired mine I was very pleasantly surprised that recoil was very manageable - the angle of the gun and those grips make it easy to soak it up. Of course, I've always been underwhelmed at factory 44 special ammo, and now that I have the dies I intend to see what the best self defense load is I can come up with, and still tolerate the recoil. I'm thinking I will definitely be in the +P range when I figure it out.
I love the looks of combat revolvers and those are two real nice examples. Having owned a variety of guns roll stamped by Interarms, all were good valued shooters.

This Rossi 720 DAO platform in .44 Special stainless is eye candy to me.

Congrats.
