GOOD MORNING!
IN APRIL I PURCHASED A ROSSI 357 MODEL 462 BRAND NEW. I PURCHASED THIS FIRE ARM UPON THE RECCOMEDDATION OF THE GUN SHOP OWNER.
WHAT A MISTAKE!!!
IN THE FIRST SIX ROUNDS IT JAMED EVER TIME, CYL LOCKED AND TRIGGER WOULD NOT PULL. FOOLED AROUND WITH IT AND SEEMED TO BE OK FOR THE NEXT 200 ROUNDS.
LAST NIGHT WHILE LOADING THE CYLINDER FELL OUT,WITH THE YOKE ATTATCHED. REMOVED THE SCREW AND PUT IT BACK TOGETHER . FIRED 25 ROUNDS AND IT LOCKED UP. NOW, TRIGGER IS LOCKED IN REAR WARD POSITION AND CYLINDER WILL NOT TURN .
I GUESS I WILL SEND BACK FOR REPAIRS TO TAURUS,JUST A PAIN IN
THE BUT. SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT THE SMITH I ORIGINALLY WANTED.
ANY COMMENTS?????

I CERTAINLY DO NOT CARE WHERE MY POST IS.ACTUALLY I AM NOT
BASHING TAURUS,AS I ALSO HAVE A JUDGE THAT PERFORMS QUITE
WELL,MY PROBLEM IS THAT IT NEVER WORKED PROPERLY OUT OF THE BOX WHEN NEW,AND THEN GOT WORSE.MAYBE QUALITY CONTROL PROBLEM???? NOW IT COSTS ME MONEY TO SHIP AND
PROBABLY WILL BE 2 MONTHS BEFORE IT IS REPAIRED!

Buy the way. There are many of us here who have Rossi snubbies and have no troubles out of them. Not to say they can't happen.

The gun has to be sent back to Rossi. Not to Taurus.

The way this is written and the size of the letters is beginning to make one wonder of the veracity of the complaint.Getting aggressive with this isn't going to help and that's the way this is coming across.

There are a number of reasons why the revolver may have jammed or caused troubles. From very tight tolerances to being dirty, or actually being some other problem.

Working through them would be a good idea. The tone doesn't suggest that however.

Here's some related whys:

These are all possibilites with any revolver regardless of make and model.

Certain S&W snubs models have been having their own QC troubles. Several reputable gun writers of note, along with other larger gun forums' threads, have documented all this.

We can try to help you work through this or let you stay in purgatory. Your choice.

I've got a 462 with over 200 rounds of magnum lite loads and 200 rounds of .38 Special +P 158gr. LSWCHPs through it and no bobbles, no troubles.

Would rather see this play out in a civil manner and see the trouble through.

Ok, I am another Rossi owner, mine the 461, is the only difference. I have a couple hundred mixed rounds thru mine. The only time I had a problem was when it got dirty! Now as to the falling apart idea! I would think that the selling dealer, would assist you in getting this gun fixed. I know my local dealer will, if you do not go in screaming at him. If I had a problem in the first 6 rds, my dealer would have been my next stop. If the yoke cylinder dropped out, definitely would have been my next stop.
They may or may not help you, either by returning the gun to ROSSI, not Taurus! But that is usually the cheapest and fastest way to get warranty work done.

Did you notice a significant amount of packing grease? This typically gums everything up, and you may have to just give the gun a good cleaning. Robby is exactly right - try your dealer first, and if he's not interested in helping, then have him assist you in sending it back.

i hope you get it all worked out.

YES I AM SURE THERE ARE MANY ROSSI OWNERS WHO DO NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS,AND I HAVE ABOUT 30 WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS OF VARIOUS MANUFACTURERS.IN PARTICULAR I HAVE A WINCHESTER SXI TRAP THAT HAS A ESTIMATES 20,000 ROUNDS THRU IT WHEN I SHOT THE
PROFESSIONAL TRAP CIRCUIT. NEVER A LICK OF PROBLEMS.
ANY HOW,I DO PLAN ON WORKING THIS OUT WIYH ROSSI IN A CIVIL MANNER,I JUST GET WORKED UP WHEN SOMETHING DOES NOT PERFORM AS IT SHOULD WHEN IT IS NEW.
I RESEARCHED THIS FIREARM BEFORE I PURCHASED,AND READ NOTHING BUT GOOD REVIEWS,AND I THOUGHT SINCE TAURUS OWNED ROSSI,THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN IMPROVED.
I WILL BE SENDING BACK TO ROSSI TODAY,HOPEFULLY IT WILL BE REPAIRED AND I WILL HAVE MANY SHOOTING SESSIONS WITH NO PROBLEMS. ACTUALLY I DO LIKE THIS FIREARM,AND PLAN TO KEEP IT.

The only time I have had problems with the cylinder is with reloads. If the primers are not set firmly they will bind and stop it from turning. The yoke coming out is probably the yoke screw, it has a spring and a plunger in it. If not careful they can be lost and the yoke will come off when open (I found out the hard way).

yes i do know what you are talking about,i took the screw out and put the plunder/spring assembly back in place, then put the screw back in. The yoke would go back in place properly, but when continuing to fire the revolver it would come apart. it even came out
when i was cleaning the cylinder.it will happen with reloads or factory
loads. I just have never seen this happen on any revolver before, thanks for you help, greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!
in fact, thanks to every one who helped me today and were patient with me!!!!!

I'd just send it in. I had one Rossi revolver, a M971, snap a firing pin. This was in the interarms days. That's the only one I ever sent back. I'm not sure where to send 'em now days, have to check your paperwork and the Rossi site. It is warrantied for life. I've owned 7 Rossis, all have been good guns. That firing pin is the only problem I've ever had with one.

Of course, you could just take it to a gunsmith if you don't wanna mess with shipping it. I'd probably do that, myself, and tell him if it needs to go back, send it. But, it might be something really simple he could fix.

Here is a update on the rossi 357. Packaged it up and took it to fed ex.
Fed Ex charged me 38.00 for overnight delivery, and 2 dollars for 500.00
insurance. Real easy transaction, told the clerk it was a revolver, and she said
that was not a problem.
Now we wait for rossi to repair it and send back!

indie, I have a Rossi, and would buy another in a heart beat, especially at 220 for a stainless. My only problem with Rossi, is they are hard to get a nice fitting holster, unless you have one of the specialty holster makers custom make it. My 905 and my Rossi 461 but have supperb finish and fit. The Rossi is actually a little tighter than my 905.

Actually, the Interarms guns are not included in the lifetime warranty, only the Braztech imported guns.
I had the same problem with a Rossi model 711 357 mag., took it to a local gunsmith who replaced the firing pin (hammer nose) for $35.

I was glad to have it back,as i missed that recoil, and muzzle flash !!!!
Apparently it just had 1 part that broke when it was new,can happen to the best of them....
Thanks to all of you for the support!!!!
