Hello everybody!
As Taurus no longer produces its 1911 in 38 Super.
I'm thinking of importing a RIA here to Brazil.
I found some ads for around 550 Dollars, which is about the same price as a Glock Gen 5.
What can you tell me about this gun ?

I'm no help with your question, but what does it take to import a firearm in to Brazil? Here it takes a license (one of the more expensive licenses, if I recall) and a whole lot of paperwork and approvals.

Basically the weapon needs to be new.
We are unable to import used weapons.
And if it is caliber allowed, it can be a maximum of 10mm Auto in energy.
And if it is a restricted caliber, it has to be less than .50 BMG

I don't have that particular model, but I do own several Ultra FS models in 9mm, 10mm and .45 Auto. I've been happy with them all.

I have several Rock Island weapons, mostly 1911.
BUT--I decided to go with the Citadel in the 1911 38 Super as the cost was about the same--maybe a tad cheaper but mostly because it wasn't a GI model, the Citadel has a better set of sights, a vent trigger and a ring hammer and the overall finish is much better than the standard RIA finish.
The wood grips did not come with the pistol.

Rock Island GI 1911. Should be just fine.

I have the same thing in a .45. Only problem was occasionally not locking the slide back on the last round. A new slide release from MidwayUSA fixed that.

How is warranty work handled in Brazil?
