Responsible adult or impulsive kid?

Not sure if it was a great idea or just proof that underneath my grown-up exterior I am still an impulsive kid
Responsible Julz: Refinanced our house, was able to lower our monthly payment and drop mortgage insurance saving us about $400 per month AND we don't owe any house payment next month.
Impulsive Julz: Goes out to a gun show and buys a SIG Sauer P220 Equinox for the husband and a Smith & Wesson M&P9 for herself. Rationalized it by the fact that it was a good "gun show/package deal" type of price.

Just bummed that I have to wait till Friday to get to the range with them.....
Who are we kidding. I'm over the moon with excitement about the new toys. Extra money in the bank is so overrated. ;D

Julz226, all I have to say is that you do not post any topics that are easy to reply to. :) And for you to buy a gun for your hubby....Priceless!!!!

In both cases, I would say "Responsible." After all, you do really need something to protect that newly finance home. Or at least that would be my argument. As Jimmy Buffett once said, "That's my story and I'm stickin' to it."
The op's just a beginner with regards to impulsiveness. That purchase wasn't impulsive. That purchase was just training for when the REAL impulsiveness starts. :) Don't ask me how I know.

Makes perfect sense to me.
Income stays the same, mortgage payment goes down, skip a month on the refi, one entire old mortgage payment going to waste in the bank.
SPEND IT!!!!

If you really want to get into the realm of "impulsive", buy yourself a 1911. It's not a bad addiction, but an addiction nevertheless.

If you bought just the one pistol - I would venture to say you were impulsive.

But, since you were thoughtful and bought one for the hubby - you certainly are responsible.

Enjoy your new acquisitions!

You were responsible enough to rescue a needy orphan from a meat market and make sure that it was comfortable in its new home by bringing a friend home. I say you get a medal. I think I may need to refinace...

Naw... Impulsive Julz would have kept the P220 and given the husband the M&P.
That must have been Nice Julz.
As long as each of you gets a new toy there should be no fighting among the troops! I bought a new to me 357 Dan Wesson revolver last week at a lgs ( I won't get to take it to the range for 6+ weeks due to the paperwork lag in our great state of Maryland) so DH bought himself - at the same time frome the same shop - a big ol' Savage huge caliber hunting rifle. What the heck, you can't take it with you - and he'll be able to pulverize all those squirrels on the back 40!! congratulations - be sure to check back in with a range report and some pix!!

Julz,
please consider yourself blessed that you have a husband that is so understanding and supportive of your hobbies. I think it was incredibly thoughtful of you to throw him a bone in the form of the P220. I really dont think you were being impulsive as you took care of biznez first. If you look at what's happening with the US dollar, your purchases might be better seen as investments. Again, this is a responsible perspective. You will however make up for the debt in the additional rounds you send down range.

I'm gonna vote for responsible. A few months mortgage savings will pay for those firearms that leaves you still saving a bunch for the year! :D

But the. Again the P220 is on my wish list so I might just be rationalizing! :D

i hope yall have fun with them this weekend!
