Mr Kresser,
We are seeing a broadening groundswell of companies that are refusing to sell their products in states or areas that are clearly opposed to firearm ownership. On several forums on Taurusarmed.net and many others for non-Taurus products there has been a call for all firearms suppliers and manufacturers to support the banning and prohibition of sales in these states. Many companies are just restricting sales and support to what the laws allow for their citizens to own.
I believe it is now time for Taurus USA and Taurus international join in with like minded Pro Second Amendment companies. The reasons from a business perspective is that the additional following your stance would generate would clearly negate any and all losses of business lost in the States and municipalities. This position would also bolster your support for the Second Amendment in the eyes of the general public.

I joined the Taurus owner's family back in 1986 with my first handgun, a model 66 revolver. I selected your firearm over others including Colt and S&W due to the ballistic reports. 26 years later I remembered how well that revolver was made, performed and held up. I looked back and thought that if a company can produce such a quality firearm then that is the company I need to look at for my future purchases. This past year I have added 2 PT1911's and a PT709 Slim to my inventory. I will be adding additional Taurus firearms to my collection as I believe them to be as good as or superior to other top level manufacturer's offerings. I became loyal to Taurus branded arms and now I humbly request your loyalty to your customer base of American citizens to take the stand with those people and companies who support the Second Amendment.

Thank you,

Russ

Better to just not bid on govt. contracts from those jurisdictions than to abandon the people.

Yes, I agree with not selling to State and Local governments where the gun-grabbers are passing the laws restricting the 2A. However, most sales are made through a broker or dealer, not necessarily the manufacture itself. But I like and support the concept.

The OP's sentiment I think is shared by just about all gun owners. The rush to push through some very bad and unconstitutional legislation by Governor Andrew Cuomo and his cronies in the New York legislature has raised the ire of gun owners and manufacturers all across our nation. The decision to ban sales by a manufacturer I think would be an easy one were it not for the system under which they market their products. Most of them do not make direct sales to governments and government agencies. Most sell thier products through a network of distributors. The distributor places an order and the manufacturer fills that order. Dealers then order from the distributors when buying stock for inventory in their shops. As such, asking a manufacturer to control sales to specific regions, states or cities, is asking them to do something they have little or no control over. They can certainly refuse any direct sales to federal, state, or local agencies that possess enough purchasing power to buy in the quantities that would warrant a manufacturer direct purchase, but those sales are often rare or non existent for most manufacturers. Once a sale is made to a distributor, where those guns are ultimately sold is up to the distributor, not the manufacturer, to a large degree.

Taurus has always been a strong supporter of American gun owners and their rights. Evidence that by all the free NRA memberships given with the purchase of a Taurus firearm, The Carry On Movement started by Taurus, and their sponsorship of many public events such as the shooting events they host for the Boy Scouts. I'm also quite sure that the management at Taurus will work diligently with it's lobbyists and congressional contacts to insure that American gun owners are treated fairly and not abused by the likes of Andrew Cuomo, and others of his ilk.

Skiff,
Thank you for clarifying the position. We have all be calling for the Major manufacturers to join in but no one has voiced it. The intent of the suggestion was to voice our desire. I do understand it's the wholesalers and retailers that handle most of the product into the pubic or gov't transactions however getting Taurus involved on a grand scale helps everyone.

My suggestion to any manufacturer is this - They should tell all government agencies that they will not sell repair parts to their gunsmiths, repair any firearms for state or federal agencies, or take any orders for new product. No support whatsoever. No new designs - no consultancies for government-run facilities.
