I'm not sure if I like it or not but it is one serious looking piece of hardware!
Nah, I'll bet that the cost will be much cheaper once it's commercially available. MSRPs are almost always hundreds of dollars above their actual price and Taurus is no exception. Seriously, check out the MSRPs listed on the Product Pages on Taurus' website sometime, then compare them to what you paid for yours.I sure hope that MSRP is the typical inflated price you usually see in gun mags. I think of a different brand revolver when I see that price, not necessarily a Taurus.
To start with, the 8.375″ barrel is a two piece design with a steel sleeve inside of an aluminum housing. The housing has an octagonal shape with a large slab sides. “TAURUS” is spelled out along the side.

Read it again, only the barrel housing is octagonal. You may think I'm nitpicking, but when I think of an octagonal barrel I think of a one piece barrel, not a slab of aluminum crudely carved into an octagonal shape which houses the barrel itself.According to the article, the barrel IS octagonal...
I'll buy that for a dollar!Read it again, only the barrel housing is octagonal. You may think I'm nitpicking, but when I think of an octagonal barrel I think of a one piece barrel, not a slab of aluminum crudely carved into an octagonal shape which houses the barrel itself.
This just in! Tuco is a prophet! You may think I'm nitpicking, but when I think of an octagonal barrel I think of a one piece barrel, not a slab of aluminum crudely carved into an octagonal shape which houses the barrel itself.
Agreed! Build a big hammer then take some of the power away. Why do they feel the need to port so many revolvers. Give us an unported version.
It should be fine, the barrel housing seems to be more of means to reduce weight while maintaining the aesthetic similarities to other firearms in the Raging Bull line rather than a structural necessity. The barrel itself appears to be sturdy enough on its own.I'm a little skeptical about the barrel. A steel sleeve in an aluminum housing? That may be a point of weakness for a .44
Another nitpicker here, but I don't like how the line of the barrel doesn't match the line on the receiver. That would bug the cap out of me.There's also a solid black option.
