Can anyone help in giving some do's and don'ts here? I'm wondering about removing the blueing from the barrel, and duracoating in silver to match the grips. I'm obviously hesitant to do anything to the barrel without some professional advice, and careful consideration first.

Easiest way to remove Bluing is with Naval Jelly. Remove Barrel from Gun, and drive the Barrel Unlocking Piston Retention Pin out and remove the Barrel Unlocking Piston. Wear Chemically Resistant Rubber Gloves and apply Naval Jelly to the outside (only) of the Barrel. Rinse Barrel in cold water after Bluing has gone (and it won't take long). Dry off Barrel and Refinish as desired. For Duracoating, a Bead Blasting to flatten the surface MAY be required, but the Naval Jelly may do that too. Look into CeraKote also for a Finish.
