Range trip with the G3C

After letting my G3C .40 sit almost two years since purchase with loaded mags, I thought that I would go to the local outdoor range and unload 100 rounds of 155 grain FTP reloads which were themselves almost a year old to see if things improved since December of 2023. Nope, they hadn't. I can still only get eight rounds in the ten round magazines and the first round out of the magazine always stovepiped. My opinion is this gun doesn't like FTP bullets. I shot about ten rounds of 165 grain Hornady Critical Defense ammunition with slightly better action performance. The reloads that chambered fired with no problem. I'm debating contacting Taurus about the magazine issue or just selling/trading the gun.

I reviewed my postings here going back to the time of purchase and I guess I'll contact Taurus and cross my fingers. I've had good luck with Taurus products over the years but times have changed in the firearms industry-some problem with my S/W Shield EZ in .30SC magazines. Surprise, Taurus responded to my email the next day informing me that magazines have a one year warranty. I responded asking if I could get replacement springs and followers so I could install myself. If they turn me down, I may try Quality_drivens suggestion below.

I recently purchased a +2 base for my SD40 and it would only accept +1. When I contacted the manufacturer, they recommended that a sand down the follower some. I did just that, and now it's a +3. Sanding down the center post of the follower may help. It looks like the center post is about one round long. I've sanded other followers down to increase capacity by one.

I have a G3C in 9mm. The last round or two are tough. Probably impossible without the Uplula loader.

First time I took mine out, the first round off the top would stovepipe. Subsequent rounds were fine. This was lead bullets. I polished the feed ramp and switched to jacketed projectiles and have not had an issue since.

Are you using an Uplula loader. I've found that the last round is tough to get in. Someone once advised me to always load one round short to prevent jams but that has never been an issue for me.

Any pistol sitting for 2 years isn't range ready. It needs cleaning and relubrication.
