Range report and Yowch!!

Shot about 100 95gr FMJ thought the G2 today - no issues at all. Could have shot better but can't we all. Also put 50 or so through the Ruger LCPII .380. Then I brought out the Heritage Rough Rider and shot maybe 50 .22LR's. That got most of the attention at the range.

However, halfway or so through box 2 on the the G2 one casing decided to eject itself right above my right eye at eyebrow level. Lodged itself between my glasses and my eyebrow just to the right of the bridge of my nose. YOWCH!! Little sucker was HOT and I had to clear the gun and set it down before I flailed at the thing to get it loose. Left a nasty little blister!
I didn't want to make much of a scene lest the other shooters and the RO think I had a 'range incident.' At any rate it was good day at the range and ending playing John Wayne with the SA is always a hoot.

You may think you played John Wayne with the Rough Rider, but I kinda wonder if you looked more like Festus Hagan after your little G2 mishap.

First thing, the HRR is a ton of fun! Second, ya just have to love a little hot brass from time to time. It makes you feel alive!! :)

I'd call that a "near bull's eye"! I used to have a Glock 26 that was famous for BTF's (brass to face).

I haven't had any issue with my G2 ejecting casings into me but my SCCY CPX-2 flings spent casings like a lawn sprinkler. None have hit me but they sure are wide-spread around the area when I'm shooting it.

I still like the CPX-2 despite the ejection path unpredictability. 10+1 DAO.....almost like having an 11-shot revolver that is easier to reload. ;) I like the G2 even better, though.

My G2C seems to eject some cases out the right side like you'd expect and some come out straight up and over my head. Havent had one hit me in the face but did have a couple land on my head... and thats pretty much my only gripe about the G2C. Can anything be modded to change casing trajectory?

... dunno, maybe shoot from the hip? My wife asked "Why don't you just wear a hat like I do? Problem solved."

God, I HATE it when she's right!!

Hot brass is always a surprise. I usually wear a ball cap lately, I shoot so many different pistols, that can't remember the ejection patterns.

Isn't your G2 a 9mm? 95 grain is some light 9mm.

I always look for a ball cap to wear at the range, keep a couple in the Durango in case I forget. The range that KMW1954 and I shoot at in McHenry, IL was famous for ricochets of copper jackets..had a couple embed in my face.

Now that my full head of hair has retreated, it's either a burned head or a hat.

I choose the hat.

All in all, I don't think you can beat the G2 for the price.

I've had cases drop down my shirt with the shirt tail tucked in. Everyone thought I was dancing.

I shot my Heritage shop keeper with the .22LR cylinder some today. I can shoot it all day with CCI .22 mag no problem, but with .22LR Remington Golden Bullet or Federal auto match (the two rounds that shoot best in it) after about 50 rounds the crud builds up on the forcing cone and starts interfering with the cylinder rotation and has to be cleaned off. Those two round burn REAL dirty and the barrel/cylinder gap is a little tight on that gun.

But, no complaints, had a good time shooting it. :D It shoots well when I do.

And, you should get into black powder. Then you could play Josey Wales. "You gonna pull them pistols or whistle dixie?" :D

Ouch. I did the same thing a few years ago, left a nasty looking burn right below my eyebrow for a couple of weeks. I too wear a ballcap now when I go shooting, it's usually cinched down where it meets my glasses or almost does.

Wrong eye. OP said it was his right eye.

I used to be a ball cap kinda guy, probably why I'm getting skin carcinomas around my face, that and all the fishing I've done. I never wore hats when I was on the bike, because I had my helmet and a hat wouldn't stay on my head, anyway. So when I'd get to where I was going, I didn't have a hat. Then, I got into boonie hats that just fold up and stash in a cargo pocket so I'd have a hat where ever I went. Now days, I don't ride the bike as much and when I do, it's just a day ride. I wear big brimmed hats now for solar protection. I have a big brim sun hat for working in the yard and a camo western hat for travel off the bike. Cases can't get through either. :D But, the main threat is solar radiation. I wish I'd been a bit more mindful of this in my youth, wouldn't be getting so many stitches here and there. Thankfully, they've not found any melanoma, just squamous and basal cell carcinomas.
