Will standard 1911 grips fit the Taurus PT1911. I keep getting conflicting information. If they won't fit, do you know why?

Yes. Standard 1911 grips will fit the PT1911 with these caveats:
1 - there is no ambi safety notch in standard grips. one would have to be cut into them
2 - the standard grips are about 1/32" narrower than the PT1911 grips. you won't even notice it unless you know what to look for.
3 - you may have to change your mounting screws as the heads of the Taurus screws are larger than everybody elses.

additionally PT1911 frame is not rounded as much at the front as a standard Colt/Browning 1911 so the grips will be a tad off center looking , as mentioned you will likely not notice it except we have now pointed it out to you-----

I got pictures that I could post but go to the Raasco grip site and they show and tell ya exactly what we are talking about.
several companies make Taurus 1911 specific grip panels.

I cannot believe you passed up this opportunity to post 'yet another picture' of your 1911's :pokey:

I have Hogue rubber grips on my PT1911. I had to make a slight modification to one grip to accommodate the ambi safety. The mod took five minutes and the grips are a great fit.

I just did this last night using a pair of generic double-diamond 1911 grip panels that a friend gave me.
They're checkered wood, so I clear-stained them & cut a tiny slice off the top of either side to clearance the ambi safety.
Took me all of 5 minutes cutting time with a Dremel.

Yes please, I want to see the rest! I love to see other Shooters collections and a favorite is 1911's. I believe as often as you post pictures of your guns that I may have seen them all already but I'm hoping not. Want to know a guilty Secret? I'm addicted to gun porn.

A few weeks ago I picked up the Wilson Combat magwell that hooks on the lower grip screws. I did my best at Dremeling relief in the stock plastic grips. I guess I was a little too aggressive because when I tightened the grip the bottom cracked. The new rubber grips have a slight gap caused by the magwell but I think I can live with that.

Used a dremel to modify for the ambi safety, and a unibit to enlarge for the screw heads;
