My new pt145 does not seem to like reloads with cast lead 230gr RN. The recoil spring doesn't have enough strength to return the slide to full battery after 10-12 rounds are fired. I have fired 55 WW, white box from Wally world and they all return to full battery.
Are there any others with this problem?? I have replaced the recoil springs on other 45ACP pistols with springs a couple pounds heavier and this corrects the problem. I have owned several other earlier PT145's that fired these reloads without any problems. Didn't keep the other pt145's as the frame cracked before 1000 rounds were fired when fixed, I sold them. I like the pistol, but fully trust pistols only after 1000 round break in period.

Thanks

I checked my reloads last evening and all measure 0.470" +/_ 0.001" at taper crimp and that is same as factory loaded ammo. Over all length is 1.254" to 1.259" and factory is 1.260" 1.265". All tested reloads drop into chamber on barrel same as factory ammo does and not stick out beyond barrel hood same as factory ammo. Best I could measure chamber is as deep as other 45 ACP barrels and perhaps 10-12 th deeper. I have had this happen with some of my other 45's and think it because the cast bullet lube, powder residue and some lead remaind in throat area of chamber and the recoil spring has to overcome this resistance to go into full battery as more rounds are fired. My load is 5.1gr, WW231 with either 230gr cast FP or 225gr cast RN. I have another PT145 on order with friend that has FFL and will see if that one has same problem. My other PT145's didn't have any problem with these reloads and if its the recoil spring (determined by swap) I will send weaker spring to Taurus for exchange.
Will keep informed on results. It may take a while to get a new PT145 as currently out of stock at distributors.

Now that I have fired 565 FMJ rounds, polished all outside barrel, chamber and inside the slide, it will feed cast lead bullets reliably. Yesterday, I put 80 cast 230gr RN and TC relaods through the PT-145 without a problem.
New question; how many rounds or time, etc. do you put through a PT-145 before changing the recoil springs???
Thanks
