Here's a copy of what I wrote to Taurus customer service:
Hello,
I'll try to describe my problem to the best of my ability.
i believe i may have bad magazines (i hope it's the mags and not the pistol)
when i insert an empty mag (while the slide is locked back) and after it's fully seated (when i hear the click) it doesn't seem to be properly aligned w/the magazine well. I know this because after i insert it i can push the top of the empty magazine towards me and i hear a small click as it's centered. Before i adjust the magazine the tip of the feeding platform (of the magazine) is not centered on the polished feed ramp. i believe this is causing some failure to feed issues.
Both of the magazines that came w/the gun behave the same way so i'm not sure if it's a bad batch of mags or if something is misaligned inside the magazine well of the pistol. Have other people reported similar problems?
i have figured out that i am able to properly seat the magazine (with the feeding platform of the magazine perfectly centered on the polished feeding ramp) if i apply downward pressure while pushing up(and inserting) the magazine. this action causes the magazine to slide into place ok but i'm worried that over time it would compromise the reliability of the gun. i also don't want to have to worry about how a magazine is inserted when i might have to reload. i want to be able to just firmly insert it until it's properly seated w/out having to apply directional pressure.
Thank you for any information you can give me about this glitch.
A bit more info I forgot to mention -
i just got the pistol and have only fired about 100 rounds through it - all carefully aimed and one-at-a-time. tight groups, dead center and absolutely no problems, no ftf or fte, 230 gr Blazer....
then, all of a sudden:
there was a total of 4 failure to feeds all on the same mag of 10, this while i was trying to fire off the 10 rounds as quickly as i could. i'm fairly certain there was no limp-wristing going on so...i'm assuming it had something to do w/the magazine being off. of course, i haven't ruled out user-error which i'm actually hoping is the case.
i'm posting to find out if anyone else has had the same problem.
