PT140 issue

Howdy from North Texas,

I bought a PT140 after a while back and it has shot fine. However, I noticed that every now and then my PT140 will double fire. There are no noticeable loose or damaged parts and it happens randomly. I've put roughly 250 to 300 rounds through it. No other mechanical problems to date (knock on wood).

Has anyone heard of this happening as well?

On that note this is a pretty awesome site.

Check the channel-tunnel that contains the firing pin. Make sure that it is DRY and clean and that the firing pin is not sticking.

Grease, dirty oil. and other debris can hinder the striker system.

Thank you for the information. Will put some Hoppe's 9 on it tonight and try it out at the range.
Wow... No wonder there was a problem. I will take it out soon and put some lead down range and see if it does any better.
About four Q-Tips of grime and gunk. The firing pin looked like it had motor oil in it.
Went to the range and if anything it seems like it got worse. Called Taurus and will be sending it in for a tune up.
