PT111G2 - re-assembly problem

1591 Views 13 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  needforspeed
I took it apart to clean it, as I have done many times before. This time, I wanted to work some gun grease onto the rails, so I reassembled it without the barrel and spring. My intent was to slide it back and forth a few times to spread the grease real good. Well now I can't get the slide to slide forward off of the frame !!! It will not come apart! Apparently, it doesn't like being reassembled without the barrel and spring.

HELP !!!

Don’t take this the wrong way, but please let me know if you are serious, and/ or have heard of this issue before. If you are, I’m not against giving that a try.
Thanks.
Did you pull the trigger like normal take down?

I think I have read about this kind of issue on Glock forum. I believe you have to carefully remove the plate at the end of the slide.

When you assembled it, you probably put the end of the recoil spring on the lower step of the chamber instead of the top step. That's the main way to suffer that lock-up

The only way I know to get it unlocked it to use force. Whack the slide hard forward (with slide disassembly buttons pushed down) with a rubber hammer.

Oh, wait, you said without the spring. Same thing (I've done that, too). Same fix: Whack the slide forward with a rubber hammer.

I do this with my other, hammer fired, sliders but I learned it isn't worth it with my PT709, the slide gets stuck like you write about. It's like having to take the gun down again.

Not offended as some would say something ridiculous,Kudos for asking and YES ! SOFT hammer blows softly while depressing takedown bar.
I did have this issue with a glock 26 a few years ago, identical to your issue and it works !

welllllllllllllllllll

it don't work :(
when I cycle the slide and pull the trigger, there is no sound of the firing pin striking. I tried to fire it just to be sure, and it does not fire. This is definitely my own fault, but I would like to know if anyone here knows what part I my have broken. Before I successfully used the dead blow hammer, I "used" the corner of my work bench and it did mess up some of the plastic portion of the back of the slide.
