Today while shooting this pistol I experienced the mag coming loose and dropping a quarter inch while firing. This of course prevented any further feeding or firing.
As long as I kept my pinky finger on the extended mag while firing this happened.
When placing the finger beneath the mag when firing everything worked fine.
So my theory is that the backward pressure on the mag bottom was the culprit.
When not firing I could not get the same mag drop to occur.
Anyone else had this problem?
What was your solution?
Maybe replace the extended mag plate with a flat one??
Lakeline does sell those.
Thanks for any input.

Make sure your thumb isn’t hitting the magazine release during recoil.

Yup tried that also,
Shot it left handed. Same result with pinky on mag extension. Pinky under extension, worked fine.
Strong hand only with no support hand, thumb out to the side.
Weird way to hold it I know but no mag drop.
709, Ruger ec9, Ruger lcp, Sig 238, no problems.

Does the mag release still feel 'springy'? If it is then check that the cut in the mag where it locks into the mag well isn't rounded off and that the catch in the mag well. The top of both need more or less squared off to be able to lock to gather hold the mag in.

Mag cuts are fine. Fit good and tight. Release is still "springy".
This week I will shoot with the flat mag plates on and see what happens.
Still feel that the pinky finger pressing back on the extended mag while firing is the culprit.
More news on this after testing.
