I have read many threads about the 1st generation PT111's which I have. According to the Taurus website it was manufactured:

I have never had any problems with FMJ loads but would like to be able to shoot some JHP. I understand the main difference in mine and the 2nd gen is that it only has a partial feed ramp (smaller) thus resulting in a jam of the next round hanging up on the feed ramp.
Can you use a second gen barrel in my gun to remedy this situation.
