I have a snap cap in the chamber and pull the trigger to fire it and then rack the slide half way, the snap cap stays in the chamber and the striker is cocked again. It is nice for dry fire practice, but should it do that?

The PT111 G2 like its older sister PT111 G1 has an SA trigger which will switch to DA when you have a misfire for second strike. Therefore, when you rack the slide to chamber a round (in this case, half way), the trigger should be in SA.
