I really like the pt1911 but can not stand the heine sights. I spent some time on my 24/7 sights to get them like I wanted with hi viz sights. I do not want to have to modify my next guns sights. For accuracy which 1911 what would you guys recommend. Nothing over 1000. I figured kimber custom or I also was looking at the paras. Looking for some people with experience with the guns for opinions. I have no loyalty to any specific brand as I have various branded guns that I like already. Thanks,
Harry

Go find a gun that has the sights you like & buy it. Unless you want to custom order a gun, you'll have to take what the factory offers you. I like the Heine sights myself, My PT1911 can punch a ragged hole at 30' no problem...You can always look for a used 1911 & maybe get lucky with the sights you're looking for.
If you really like the PT1911, buy it and have the sights changed. Simple.

You don't have to do it yourself even. You say you're limit is $1000. So, say $600 for the PT1911---$75 for sights you want----$30 for a gunsmith to install.

Total---$705 and a PT1911 which you REALLY like. ;D
Ditto, What NYPD in AZ said!
+1 On getting the PT1911 and having the sights changed out by a 'smith. Then with the extra money, stock up on .45 ACP ammo. :D The PT1911 is a quality firearm that's going to last a long time.

I've pulled this comment from another board that a PT1911 owner made. I recall this person from another thread months back where he had made similar comments in regards to the durability and reliability of the PT1911.

"30,0000 rounds through mine since November '06. Went through 20k with zero malfunctions. At about 23k, the I had to replace the sear. It is as good as anything that Springfield Armory built for me when I shot for them. For the money, it is the best buy around. You can get it for under $500 at: www.gilbertgunworks.com "
You do know there are several variations to the PT1911 and some come with different sites, even night sites.
There is no alternative.
I think I am going to give the rock island armory tactical a try. Gun show this weekend. Hope they have one for a descent price.

Harry,

I have the Heine sights on my 24/7. I HATE THEM.

I don't post much. I guess I don't write a response unless I have something to contribute. In this case I do. I recently purchased a Kimber Custom II. My first 1911, but not my last.

Check out gunsamerica.com. I found a dealer within 50 miles of my house that was advertising my Custom II for $550. It is a fantastic pistol.
