All black if for carrying.
Why not stainless? I have the all black and the slide coating seems a bit less durable than other more expensive pistol coatings.

Haven’t had any problem with the coating on my stainless so far

I sold my all black one when I got the SS one. With just a few months of carrying the black one the holster wear of the black finish was really pronounced. I wear mine IWB so gleaming SS isn't a problem as it's hidden. If it has to be revealed it won't matter what color it is. My S & W Shield has a black SS slide which is the best IMO...no holster wear showing at all after months of carry. Taurus would be wise to upgrade the black PT 111 G2's to black SS IMO.

Yeah, this is one of the few negatives of the G2. The finish on the Black slide isn't the toughest. Mine has pronounced holster wear on the left hand side, riding against the leather of my IWB.

It is also a finish that will produce surface rust very quickly; similar to the finish on modern Remington 870s. Not saying it rusts through or pits rapidly, but with any gun in a humid or MOIST :D environment, keep the water off by using CLP.

Had the same issue-Just high humidity then back to dry area can produce a little bit. For this reason, during the summer months when I got a bit more sweaty or MOIST :D , I'd always wear an undershirt, and also apply a thin coat of CLP to the back left portion of the slide and its serrations. This solved that problem right away.
A Stainless one should be arriving sometime this morning from my drug dealer. So I vote stainless.

For guns, motorcycles, and coffee: BLACK.
I have read that the black slide shows wear pretty quickly.

I have the SS slide model. I've put at least 1800 rounds thru mine. For what its worth it still looks brand new.

all black - although, I would like a flat earth as a project gun (stippling)
When I settled for a black one, I wanted stainless instead but they were hard to find at that time, unless you wanted to pay almost double the price of a black one. Since I didn't pay the average price for my black one, it would've been triple the price to me. My finish looks great, but probably only because I waxed it, thanks to some advice on the Taurus forum. Even though it's not stainless, my black one has been functioning great, no broken trigger blade safeties, no mag wobble, no parts falling off, 5.5 lb trigger pull. If I were to start over with a stainless one just for appearance sake, I don't know if I would be as lucky with a new one. I had a stainless revolver and a nickle plated 45 when I was security and LE, but that was an open carry situation in all kinds of crappy weather, not CC. I suppose that if I ever need to use the G2 in a DGU I'm guessing the BG probably won't care what the finish looks like anyway.

What does that mean "waxed it?" Like with car wax or somesuch? Is there a thread about waxing a black finish? This intrigues me.

Same question... am intrigued..
Probably renaissance wax. However Ren wax smells suspiciously just like turtle wax.

It's been a long while back, but when I did a search, this was two of the links I found on this forum. They are not the original post I read however. I just used a liquid car wax I had sitting in the garage, and I lightly applied it. If I happen to find the original post I'll link it.
