I bought three boxes of PPU 9MM FMJ ammo at WalMart. Has anyone ever used it? It's made in Serbia. Under normal conditions, I would have stayed with a brand I know. But the way things are now, I bought it because it was the only thing available. Anyone know anything about it?

Never shot the 9mm but have shot lots of .45, .303, .243 and .308. The 45 has run reliably in all my 1911s I ahve tried and was pretty clean. The rifle has also shot well, with the .243 shooting 1MOA out of my wife's old bull barreled Ruger M77.

Thanks guys. It may be a good brand. I just had never seen it before this ammo shortage. I feel better about shooting it after your replys. Thanks again.

I've shot it, and it's fine. Only thing is, it doesn't smell as aromatic as the US made stuff. :D

Until the ammo crunch I have never seen PPU in WalMart, now that is about all I see.

Smells like I would imagine burning armpit hair would smell, but shoots very well, just try to shoot it at outdoor ranges! :p

Yes, Serbian (Prvi Partizan) brass cased. I ran about 300 rounds through my 709 and 809 over the past month, no problems.
And Smokewagon is right - not as "nice smelling" (Hey! I like the smell of gunpowder in the morning! Smells like.... FREEDOM!) as our American stuff.
On the other hand, it's not quite as aromatic as the steel cased Monarch stuff from the same company.
Wife makes me clean them outside if I've been shooting that stuff...

It ran fine in mt PT99. Can't say that I noticed the different smell but I do shoot near a farm and sometimes the manure pit is quite aromatic. :D The last time I was in Walmart this was the only 9mm that they had on the shelf, but I had just bought a case of Remington to throw on paper.

Yeah, the PPU seems to be less "aromatic" than the Monarch steel case stuff.
I've never had any issues with PPU, have had a couple hard primers (I guess) in the Monarch stuff.

This exact subject was discussed about Jan 1st, if you care to read the input by others then, I think there were about 20 or so responses.
Hope this helps.
