Posible custom sights? Alfons?

I know that this kinda belongs in the smithing area but it’s pt111 g2 specific and I know My old friend Alfonse cruises this forum and hope to catch his attention. Now that I’m going back to a g2c in regular carry rotation I had planned the standard Lakeline upgrades. Stainless recoil rod, striker tube and nite sights. Also going sao trigger. Anyway sights. I originally wanted the same Lakeline 3 dot tritium sights. But their out of stock and that got me to thinking which is dangerous. Three dot is not my favorite site. Their serviceable but I always find myself having to work to focus on the front and ignore the rear. I like the black out rear with focus front and that is ultimately what I ordered but find that those type are almost perfect except in extremely low to no light then it’s nice to have the two rear tritium just to line them up. I had an old s&w with a straight eight style tritium sights one dot at the bottom of the rear sight and you just place the front sight dot over that one. Since I only used the rear tritium to line up in very low light conditions I blacked out the rear white dot. So the Lakeline sights will be close minus the rear tritium dot. Alfonse any chance you’d consider offering this style. Simply add a tritium vial to your rear black out sight? Maybe theirs more to it than that since I don’t have them in hand yet.

I may also buy an extra rear black out sight and attempt to drill and install a vial preferably a smaller dimmer one or maybe a different color. That’s is I can find appropriate size tritium vials the small 1.5 x 3mm and smaller are hard to find. Has anyone tried this? Btw before anyone suggest the truglow sights I don’t like Them nearly as much as the Lakeline originals. If I don’t like the tritium focal points as much as I think I will are you making any more of the original three dot tritium Lakeline sites? Thanks everyone.

The Truglo Tritium Pros are pretty much exactly what you are describing, and in stock.

They have a blacked out rear, with 2 tritium vials with black rings, and a high visibility, large dot, front sight with tritium.

I was really wanting a single blacked out tritium in the rear under the u channel like stacked dots at night but the closest thing I could find was your tritium front focal sight with plain blacked out rear. So I placed my order for those Sunday. You have probably shipped them already knowing how quick you guys usually are. I think I will like them. I may try to install a single tritium vial in the rear if possible I have the machinery to do so if there is room in the sight and I can come up with the proper size vial. If not and I feel I need the rear tritium then I’ll order the ones you specified. I would still rather have your original designed Lakeline tritium sights and black out the rear white dots myself. I like the look and install of yours better. Will you be making any more or did you decide to stop now that truglow is making them.

There are only a few companies that are licensed to install the vials by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Their pricing model is such that when they start marketing sights for the pistols we are really at a relative price disadvantage. We put those sights out when there were no other options because a carry gun isn't really a serious carry gun unless it has some sight options, including night sights. The margins were never very good on them from our perspective, but they helped us sell other stuff and I believe they helped the popularity of the G2. So, it worked out.

It just doesn't make as much sense going forward.

I’m sorry to hear that. I bought one of your first recoil assembly’s and nite sites when you first designed them back when I owned my first g2 and I really thought you made a superior product. Well I do think your black out rear with a focal front is a excellent option for those who have moved on from the 3 dots. I know a lot of people prefer the stacked dots in low light. That would be a good alternative that may be an easy change for your rear black out sight. Thanks for making quality products for the small guys. Also thanks for giving a voice to your customers and always being willing to listen to feedback.
