It is Purpleheart wood, and in a bright light it is a very nice purple color........

Thanks should also go to Jeeper1 for furnishing the Purple Heart wood. It is also recommended that if you want to keep the purple glowing, you'll need to add a UV inhibitor. I presume you can find that at your local hardware store or a paint shop.
