Also not sure what "orange tool" is noted above, as none came w. my 24/7.
Might be an unloaded chamber or slide back indicator; these look like vee-shaped little plastic tabs that are inserted into chamber or feed ramp area to clearly indicate that the slide is not in battery. My Colt semi-auto came with one, also bright orange.
Mystery solved, the device is placed in the chamber for shipping as a quick reference that the weapon is not loaded. I would think some shops likely discard it when preparing the pistol for sale. Thanks to all who responded.
