I have a stainles 24/7 pro d/s in 9mm. i have a friend who apperantly really likes this and claims he cant find one. He also knows i want a PT1911 and is willing to get one and make a trade for my 24/7.
Now the question, Which would you rather have as a daily carry (concealed), the 24/7 pro ds or a pt1911 and why?
I'm biased, so I'd keep the PT24/7 PRO DS in a heartbeat - mine has been very dependable and accurate and the most ergonomical and comfortable pistol I've ever handled. I've never met a 1911 that felt good to me. Personally, your friend would be the winner in this exchange - but to each his own. That's MHO.
I cc a PT-92 and a spare mag, so CC of a full size weapon can be done. Personally, I would keep what you have, but I haven't ever been much of a 1911 fan.
I have both and have carried both. The 24/7 was my main carry until an as-yet untested repair put it in the safe.
Since then, the PT1911 has been on my belt. The 1911 conceals easier, but I'd be danged if I'll give up the 24/7.
Figure out a way to have both.
It's all very subjective but I find that 1911s are very comfortable to carry, and not that difficult to conceal. The fact that
my PT1911 is probably the most reliable and accurate handgun I own makes it a no-brainer for my EDC.
As you know I'm a big fan of the PT1911, it's my favorite pistol. But my choice for concealed carry or self defense would be the 24/7 over the 1911. As wonderful as the 1911 is, it is old technology. For many reasons the 24/7 is a better choice; capacity, size, construction, etc. Keep your 24/7 and buy a PT1911 when you can.
I would keep your 24/7 as I'm not a huge fan of 1911s. Don't get me wrong, I think 1911s are good guns, I just wouldn't carry one. Like BigSkiff said, the 24/7 has higher capacity and is lighter. Just MHO.
I'll say go with the 1911. Currently you can get the 24/7's in the 400-450. the Pt1911's are going in the 550-700 range. it would be easier to replace a $450 gun than a $600 gun. JMHO.
If there's one ounce of doubt, don't do it. Both are fine CC weapons but if your already comfortable with your 24/7 then stay with it. As stated, you can get a 1911 all day long, that sweet 24/7 you have, not so much.
keep your 24 /7 if you like it get a 1911 if you dont i have had both but i ccw citadell compact 1911 9mm and have pt 1911 ss 9mm for every thing else.MY OPINION 1911 is the pistol for me i like the trigger and can modify every thing from parts every where
I would personally make the trade in a heartbeat, but thats me personally. I also wouldnt be carrying either for CC so thats something to consider. I wouldnt make the trade if I was looking for a better CC weapon, id just make it in the sense of the PT1911 being worth more, and me loving 1911s.
