Don't see why not. I prefer optics on a hunting revolver, but that's easy enough to accomplish. Caliber .44 mag is plenty for pigs/deer. Just load it with a 300 gr or more hard cast hot load that shoots straight and go for it.

While .454s, .460s, .480s, or .500s get a lot of press, they're excessive for deer/hogs and frankly for my pocket book. Even the price of brass would put me off on these guns. The .454 and .460 will at least handle a .45 colt case, a bonus. If you don't handload, though, the .44 mag is a better choice IMHO, at least on a state salary. LOL

I purchased one of the first M44 models in 1995, like the Tracker but in Stainless and paid more back then that the price you showed. it weighed 53 ounces and was wonderful for hogs, most 44 Mag loads will suffice on hogs. I currently carry a 2 1/2 " Stainless Tracker in 44 Mag that I found at a gun show and weighs 31 ounces. Currently my CCW. Do you have to pay shipping and transfer fees not included in the price? In Florida at the gunshows, there is a dealer that has a display so large that he rides around in a Segway. They always seem to have good prices on Taurus guns. I paid $350 for my Tracker snub, wish I would have bought two. Hope you enjoy the Tracker if you buy it. Shoot a box of UMC 180's at the indoor range. A big fireball with the porting and the blast is unreal. I have had many people move down the range to avoid the noise and blast. Remington lists them at 1600 fps, not sure what it will do out of a 6 1/2 inch barrel. Enjoy!

A while back I got a chance to shoot a 4" 44 Tracker. It was the first 44 mag that fit my hand. With standard 240gr magnum loads it was no problem, maybe as harsh as a medium frame 357. All the recoil came straight back, muzzle flip was minimal.

If you're thinking defensive gun for hogs I would lean towards the 4" tube but for a primary the 6.5" should be fine. From what I've seen on prices that looks good.

Here's a link to a review of it:

Whenever I end up getting myself another 44 its a toss up between a 44 Tracker and a 4" M44. Its been a while since I handled a M44 so...
