I have a few.

Comics and unique comic related art. = Even cartoon cells if it has the background with it or original and some reproduction tin type signs. I am somewhat judicious now that I have gotten older. ( over 10 k comic books besides graphic novels etc.)

Cufflinks = I prefer antique, very unique, or gem at this point. One of my favorite sets is hand carved ivory elephants with the accompanying tie bar ( gator clip style bar).

Watches= mostly swiss made but if it is unique or different I sometimes add it. For example I stumbled across a Seiko solar powered one a few years back.

Cigarette Cases= again antique or unique. Some great WW1 and WW2 cases.

Swords and Medievel Weaponry = I prefer damascus steel and discerning on style although I do have a few higher end movie replica swords.

Books= I try to collect first editions of books or series of books I enjoy. But I also have a ton of paperback and hard backs. Last count was over 1k paperbacks. I like to read when i can. Not big on T.V.

Pocket Knives = some fixed blade but mostly if a certain style of knife appeals to me.

Cassettes of classic Radio Programs = Something that is just fun to look for. Programs like The Shadow, Superman, The Thin Man etc. I even have a copy of Abbot and Costello's "Who's on First".

Computers= mostly hardware end of it for over 20 years. back when you built your own and wrote your own "language".I have MSCE and until I trashed my arm 5 surgeries ago I had a sideline business I had to sell

Strategy Games= All kinds- Poker- Chess- Miniature games ( have a few thousand miniatures. this taught me to paint and work on small detail.) I have even played online games of strategy for years. Strategy and fantasy online gaming. Keeps your mind sharp and open to new concepts.

BBS ( OTC) Investing = Some friends and I have a small "club" that we invest in "bulletin board" or "over the counter" or "penny stocks" to add to our portfolios. Its kind of an addition to my strategy addicion.

For the most part I and my wife (for her collectible hobbies) enjoy searching out items at garage sales the few times we HAVE the time to search... or mostly on vacation and stopping at various places when traveling. I have made some purchases over the net from specialty sights, but that is only for very specific items or most often swords and weaponry or the odd first edition I REALLY want. We do look on some internet auctions sights.

It may seem like a lot of collections but it all just came together over the years. None consumes our lives either. We fill them in as we can on the collections.

When time allows, mostly on vacations, we both enjoy hiking and historic sight seeing. She actually walks old battlegrounds and grave yards with me.

I like to fish but that is more for the comraderie of friends anymore. We will also camp out along the river for a weekend and live off the land when my closest friends and I can take a fishing getaway weekend.

And finally -travel.

Respects- Brizz

EDIT- Items in red is what I foolishly forgot. Respects.

Mr DB,

It looks like a lot, but most overlap. The comics I started collecting when I was 7 ( I could read and write and multiply by the time I entered school. Grandfather dead, mother divorced and we lived with my grandmother. Between my I.Q. and mostly their constant working with me, it all meshed. I learned early and was taught to take care of things.) I just never stopped. The same with books. I then gravitated to first editions

The love of guns was learned early through my uncles and cousins because of no father and grandfather nearby. It too stuck. The way it kept us close made it even more special.

The collections can be looked for simultaneously, usually. Even looking on Ebay it is easy. I am not big on T.V. and read over 1.5k words a minute. I sleep about 4-5 hours nightly. Plus being your own boss at night you can sneek things in when you get the testing balanced out at work.

Other than cruises etc., when we travel, we usually go to historic areas. That helps cover a lot of collections and the walking battlegrounds and graveyards. My wife and sister-in-law (We often travel to these places with her brother and family) like antique stores/ garge sales etc. I learned to survive by looking for my toys.

Finally, a very good friend has a career that takes him around the world for months at a time. He is able to get a lot of my likes for much cheaper than you would imagine. He finds things that are very unique. <Even brought things home he maybe shouldn't now and then.> Its just the safes- the re-inforced garage rafters- the bank lock boxes- Special storage cabinets, that can get salty. Not counting the curios and the like for momma's carousel collection, coke-a-cola oddity collection and others.

The strategy and stocks are a scheduled get together with an inner circle of friends, including my 2 best friends (besides momma <... and he scores suck-up points with the mrs.>). You HAVE to make time for your friends. This keeps us involved and looking forward to the get togethers too.

Respects- Brizz

Edit- I am also one of those people that can not stand being stagnant. I love to learn in some form or other. I HAVE to learn. I even learned elevator repair from a more than casual aquaintance "just because". If I am not expanding my mind in some form or another- I feel dead or diseased inside. It's always been this way. It sounds hokey or contrived to many but it's the way I am.
