OK. Many of you saw the pix of the NERF gun I posted last year. That one got displaced somewhere. Every fall-winter we get entire tribes of squirrels in our attic which just happens to sit over the ceiling in our living room; it has 18 ft vaulted ceilings so can’t bump it with a broom handle. So, I decided to push my indoor weapons use. Picked up a new NERF gun today and bought the optional extended magazine (18 vs 12 darts). And you can break it down to a handgun or something the size of a SMG.

OK, OK . . . . when you’re retired with lots of time on your hands you look for stuff to keep ya entertained at times. My youngest son has one he terrorizes (in a playful way) his German Shepherd (yep - an indoor variety) with.

It has a 90 ft fire reach and harmlessly bounces off the ceiling with just the right amount of noise and vibration produced to, hopefully, keep the squirrels outta the near attic.

Or, if maybe I paint all my black guns with the NERF color scheme . . . . never mind.

Put a needle into the projectiles and get into the attic, or trade the nerf gun in on a Benjamin and get into the attic....are you afraid of the Sabre toothed squirrels?

Show no fear, that is important, trust me, I know! Of course it has been a few years since one of them ran up my pants leg!

I bought an air rifle last year -one of the barrel break Nitro types - with hopes of going on a squirrel safari in the attic. Then when I sighted it in in the back yard I found that it had enough power to punch through walls without a thought. I tabled the air rifle idea - but still shoot ‘em occasionally in the back yard. I need something WEAK to shoot indoors.

Any who, this little NERFer is doing the trick. I shoot at the ceiling every couple of hours and they’ve stayed away from our area. I don’t promote squirrels in the attic as I’ve seen and repaired 4-5 wires chewed thru up there over the years - quick fried squirrel ain’t the delicacy it’s soup brethren is - but the area I’m talking about is the major thoroughfare into and out of our house. Small victory.

If you have the time, why don't you fix where they are getting in at?
Just sayin............................:)
