OCD and a APX

There are days where my OCD manifest itself and I cannot resist a deal. Rural King has become a problem for me. Today I ended up with a Beretta APX. It screamed for me to buy it. They had them for $409.93 plus tax. That isn't a typo under four hundred ten dollars ($410.00). In addition, RK is giving a 12% rebate on all in stock items in the store. I couldn't resist as the prices for these have fallen so much in certain areas of Ohio. Cincinnati, Columbus, and other cities the gunshops seem to run just below retail. RK seems to be unloading them.

It's a bit wider than a Glock 19 slide or a P320's. Takedown is not as nice as a 92, Glock, or Sig P320, but still easier than a 1911. It has two additional back straps for size adjustments, a mag loading tool, an extra magazine, lock, cleaning brush, and all the paperwork.

I figured for the price, it is worth a try as I'll have less than $400 in it after the rebate. I'll eventually have to do a range comparison of a G19, PPQ, and a P320C to it. Maybe even add the 9mm OSS into the mix since it was in the SOCOM trials and variants of the APX and P320 were part of the MHS.

You got a SCREAMING deal. Congrats!! Best deal I could find on mine a few months ago was $499. I filed for the promotion package of a (cheapie) holster and 3 additional mags on Oct 21. Still waiting. I love the ergos with the smallest backstrap installed (medium hands here), but that slide is a BEAST! I hope they release a compact version. If they do, I'll sell this one and grab a compact. Else, the full size is begging for better sights, so I will have to do that.......

Since you have the Sig, have you tried a CZ P10C? You need to. Wow!

I tried it and like my P320C better. Especially with the new upgraded trigger. A dealer near me had the P10's for $399 on sale, but he ran out quick. I still like my CZ's all steel.

That looks like it could be a really comfortable grip. I love comparison photos like your shot with the PT111.

Congratulations!

That's a really cool looking gun. I haven't seen one yet. Might have to venture out tomorrow and see if I can find one local to look at.

Congrats on a great deal!

When I saw the first photos of them I didn't like the looks. Then I saw one in person and it's actually a pretty decent looking good. I'll be interested in your range report and comparison to some of your other pistols.

The APX for some reason doesn't seem to have caught on, at least around here.
so the price has dropped in real world pricing, same for the Beretta Pico, they are soon going to be in Taurus TCP territory.
I handled a few APX at the NRA show and while wasn't bad it didn't light my fire to be honest.
IF I were to buy another Poly pistol no doubt it would be the CZ P-10c. the ones that I have handled fit me very well, the triggers are pretty much as nice a they come on a poly pistol under 500 bucks, the reset is amazing.
But alas the EAA Elite Match in 10 MM is available again so that's got my interest as far an a new gun.---------:bang:

DO IT!

I once had a standard Witness in 10mm. I really liked it. It was the odd one in my collection and the brass I had was wearing out. That was when ammo for 10mm was getting high and no one was importing PPU at the time. Today I can find PPU and Armscor for reasonable money.

On the plus side I at least got a Witness .45 ACP and $40 on the trade. :D

I got into an odd situation and accused of telling a tall tale on this one and no way did I get it for this price as RK still has them on line for $499.99. It didn't happen here, but I hate being called out.

Also a teaser I will write up later. 7 yards rapid fire, and double taps. There is 100 rounds through that spot. :D Yes I'm happy for a pistol I never shot before today. A total of 200 rounds down range with zero failures.

As I mentioned before, you got a screamin' deal. Good on you! It is nice to see folks get in on these kinds of sales when they happen. I don't think anyone on this board would have doubted you. Good shootin', too, by the way!

yea, I already have a standard Witness in 38 Super and 10 MM, both excellent weapons, and I have a Elite match in 38 Super.
the Elite Match is a different animal, smooth as silk, accurate as can be, nice to look at weapon and quality workmanship, as you would expect a near custom pistol to be.
I have been looking for a 10 MM , they come in like bananas , in bunches and then dry up.
right now there are a few available.

Olfarhors, you list a lot of 38 Super Guns . . . .any problem finding COMMERCIAL ammo or do you predominately reload for it?

Hey Maloy, don’t give those heathens the satisfaction of calling you out! They just jealous that you got a heck of a deal. Stand proud and shoot strong.

oh not predominately, exclusively is how I reload for it and all my other weapons that are center fire.
Aqulia , and Fiocchi has nice reasonable prices on the 38 Super in target rounds.
finding 38 Super locally is near impossible.
but I reload all my own, both plinker and self defense rounds.
other than the case all the other components are the same as the 9 MM, so bunches of great self defense projectiles out there IF you reload.
38 Super in plinker loads runs me about 6.25- - 6.75 per box of 50, depends on whether Extreme has a sale going when I buy projectiles.
I have kind of standardized my range loads to 124 for the 38 Super and 115 for the 9 MM.
they shoot both weights almost the same though.
People don't believe me when I tell them that I paid under 400 bucks for this one either, well unless they were around when CDNN was closing them out. PT1911 stainless in 38 Super.
I believe that the walk out the door price after shipping and FFL fees were about 425-430?
I say let them believe what they want.
