new to me rifle Savage .223 XP

I picked up this rifle for 350 dollars brand new in the box. I took it out to shoot and it shot 1 minute of water bottle at 100 yards with no scope adjustments.I was very impressed. It also has a very mild report and I shot it without ear plugs with no ear ringing.the action is really smooth but the only downside is they do not make another stock option for the axis series.

You get a lot for you money with Savage. I've had my eye on the Savage Model 12 FCV in 223 - I want that Accustock! It has a long aluminum insert that improves the bedding, and they say it's better than a pillar bedded stock. Dunno if they make them for the Axis series or not, but it might be worth contacting Savage. Either way - congrats on the new rifle!

Congratulations on a fine little rifle.

I see no problem with it's stock the way it is.

And take this from an Old Fart with a severe case of tinnitus from 5+ decades of shooting.

Anytime it's feasable to do, always use hearing protection. :thumb:

I do 99% of the time....just this time I did not have any, only shot 5 rnds. I want to go spend an hour grouping it now. I have a savage .17hmr that stuck 3 in the same hole at 110 yards, I have it hanging on my fridge....

the one hole 2 inches over the bulls eye. 3 shots cold barrel from gun vise.
