Just heard that they are building a new 200k sq ft in Georgia. More to follow.

I can confirm the move by Taurus from Miami to Bainbridge, Georgia. I received two phone calls this morning from very reliable sources.

Don't know the size of the building, whether they are buying or building, or a time window but I will update as I receive more info....

Hopefully it will include a large QA division (and good manufacturing capacity!) - oooh! and an entire floor dedicated to Customer service!

If they move about 10 states closer I will consider driving my pistol to them for the repair.
Then I will hang out on their front steps and be obnoxious (even more than usual) until they repair or replace it.
Unless that happens it's staying here with me.

I just got off the phone. The one constant is that the facility in Georgia will be very large. The property in Miami, that Taurus owns, will be up for sale.

The time window for the move is 12 to 18 months. So far only management has received offers to make the move.

The rumor is (and I stress RUMOR) that some manufacturing will be moved up from Brazil and if so the management will also be from Brazil. There is also the possibility that part of the plant will be dedicated to Magtech ammunition.

Interesting quote:
Taurus CEO David Blenker got a roaring ovation when he announced to the crowd, “We are absolutely moving our corporate headquarters to Bainbridge, Georgia” and stated that all Taurus pistols and Heritage revolvers would be manufactured in Bainbridge as well.

That ought to put the "they are going to go bankrupt" speculations to rest. The question is "why?". Could be they've outgrown their facility? Could be the hurricanes?

Our son is moving to Augusta in the near future. Guess I need to keep track of this news in case there would be a reason in the future to visit the new location.

Umm, Augusta is quite a hike from Bainbridge.

With the move to socialism and the government takeover of private businesses that is rampant in South America, this could be a smart move. Whether that played a role in the decision, who knows.

I gather the huge discounts they have been pushing on their handguns is related to this and will help to get them off the shelves so the new, more expensive American made stuff won't have to compete with the old stuff to start moving inventory.

In recent years Georgia has enacted different incentives for companies to relocate here.
that's likely the reason for the move I would guess. likely for 10 plus years operating cost I would imagine is good bit lower.
that's why many movie film companies are moving here, Amazon is looking here for a possible new facility, etc, etc, etc. plus a reasonable work force in a right to work state.
Mercedes . Porsche etc already here.

It only took them 15 years to decide to move so I guess I shouldn't complain about 20 weeks for repairs.

WELL now in all fairness though there is not to many "Two men and Boat" in Brazil either.

H&K is also expanding in Columbus. Not only is georgia a hotbed for the film industry - it is now gonna be a firearm manufacturing state.

Good. I think they will do a better job of things there. Miami is a resort town with lots of people that really aren't of the "manufacturing" mentality. JMHO
