I took my new SS PT1911 to the range for the first time today and put 150 rounds through it.

I'm used to shooting my PT145 that is a lot lighter and fun to shoot.

The PT1911 sure felt heavy after 45 minutes of shooting. I could feel it in my shoulder and arms.

The indoor range I shoot at has no A/C and just blows in hot air from outside on the range.

By the time I was done I was sore and sweaty, but I sure liked shooting the new gun.

Remember the pt1911 is all steel where the pt145 is plastic. A fully loaded 1911 is heavy. You will get use to the weight, and more they likely will enjoy the pt1911 more.

Glad you enjoyed it. Just think, you got a good workout, probably lost lots of calories as well!

One good thing about the extra heft is it does tend to dampen the felt recoil. I don't think I'd enjoy shooting 100+ rounds from a light weight .45 as much as I do the full sized 1911.
