I go to the range at my LGS twice a week and visit a couple of times to browse the aisles when I'm not shooting. TODAY, after shooting 50 rnds of 9mm reloads and then another 50 rnds of 22lr through my PT22 I decided to check the shelves for more 22lr. It was there but a little baggie of 50 was now priced at $8.99, up from $6.99 last week. Didn't buy it and on the way out the door I heard one clerk ask another "is 9 $50 now?"
I turned around, went back and looked. Sure enough, 9mm FMJ $49.99/50! That's a $20 increase from last Thursday :mad::mad:
Just when I thought it was safe to go back in the water!!!

So, I went to the reloading section and picked up another bag of Winchester .380 95gr flat nose FMJ bullets for $19.99/100. They do really well when loaded in a 9mm case. I've shot over 200 in two weeks. Besides, I could barely afford the $30 ammo and I definately will not buy $50 ammo.

I was lucky enough to pick up two boxes of Remington fmj from a gunbot listing for cabellas at $18 a box. I had to pay $4 a box for shipping so they came out to $22 a box. Not too bad.

I agree with you gwk. I gave up buying factory ammo but reloading supplies cost almost as much as factory ammo used to cost

I have noticed that in our USPSA matches when a shooter clears their pistol they are a lot more attentive to where that little sucker goes. I'm still cruising along on my reloading components, but I hope that the drought and price spike doesn't last more than a couple of months. One thing is certain...I will not be paying those prices.

I'm reloading at the price point of factory ammo less than a year ago - $.16 a round for 9mm, .17 for 40 S&W, .21 for 223. I'm using good fmj bullets (jhp or sp add a penny) with my, or picked up brass and getting the loads I want AND having some fun doing it but - I'm just sayin'...(powder, primers and most bullets are locally purchased).

All of this price gouging crap started with Coffee, then milk, then Gasoline now ammo. When are we going to say enough is enough and fight back?

I can get all the cast 9mm. LRN I want, but bullets without primers and powder.....what can I say?
I have 650 cases to load, powder for 300, but no primers to be found.

Wow! And to think I was sour about seeing $25 for 50 9mm at my last range trip. They advertised they had 22lr on fb so I asked what it was when I got there and how much. They acted like I was the first to dare ask, had no idea what it was and wanted $7 for 50. They offered me a brick and looked at me even stranger when I said I'd just try 50. Good thing I did too because it shot like low velocity garbage and was the greasiest crap I've ever touched! You'd have to wipe your hands after handling a couple because your fingers were too slippery to pick more up. I'm not thankful to have just had 22lr to shoot. I'd never buy it again. Good thing I had a bunch of blazer!

Half the time our ROs try to make an 'air catch' of your live round for you. Everybody - even those well set, know the real story!!

I have about 150lbs of lead and about 1000 primers of each size but dang little brass. But I don't want to use cast reloads for my carry loads, target yes but not carry.
What are you looking for in brass?

Brass hasn't been an issue ...yet. I can imagine that the time will come and soon when the brass dries up as a result of people not getting factory ammo to shoot. That is, unless you are privy to the DOHS range.

I just bought 1000 cases for 380 auto from Brassman and they got here in less than a week...the frustrating part is the 5 week wait for the dies and turret.

I have quit shooting any of my factory ammo for the time being. I have been casting my 38/357, 45ACP and .458 bullets and shoot those instead. I have a good stock of primers & powder but I can see it will eventually run out so when ever I see it I buy it. At present, I can shoot my 105 gn. SWC in 38 cases for what 22 lr is costing.
