Now that it looks like the market price of AR's and AK's may settle back to what we would consider normal, I am curious if there will be some backlash from folks who always wanted one, but got priced out of the market recently.

The first question is for those who do not yet have what the lame stream media loves to call "assault" rifles...AK's or AR's. The second part is open for any and all gun aficionados about whether you have a burning desire for your first or an additional carbine and if you would favor an AR or an AK.

It's a Czech poll...it takes a bit longer
Years ago there was a Shiner Beer billboard in Austin that read: "Our beer goes through thousands of quality Czechs every day."

If I could afford it, I would want a Tommy Gun, but, I wouldn't want the hassle of the NFA stamp or be on their first place to go to confiscate list!

Heck, why would I want a Tommy gun, that's a lot of weight to carry around?

I don't have a rifle. Any rifle. I only recently acquired a shotgun, which would be my first long gun in decades. I seem to only be interested in handguns. I have considered it. If I were to run into an AK with a good price on it I might buy it.

I lost all my firearms and ammo in a nasty boat vs canoe accident and I'm holding off buying anything new until they can make them safer ;)

I'm not quite sure how to answer this. I bought my first "AR" type rifle in about 1975 for $250. I sold it in 1980.

I haven't owned any of these types since then but I imagine I will eventually get around to buying another.

No hurry though. My handguns are enough for now.

I knew the new gun proposals would never go anywhere because of both Pub and Dem congressional opposition; so I never bolted out to buy anything for twice what it was worth.

I'm in no hurry and don't need anything like that; but I'm interested in several platforms. This is one of those "wants", not "needs".

I understand there will be some brand new, smaller, lighter, more legitimate AR's in .308 coming out from several manufacturers in the very near future... so I'm in the market to a certain extent, and just have to see what the offerings are.

I want something of that type...almost bought one when and decided on the PT809 instead....matter of practicality and price. I could afford the AR (Bushmaster black Friday deal in Dick's) but I didn't think i would get enough use. I will see what the prices settle out too and what ammo availability is. I like the AK because of price (pre-craziness) but the AR because of versatality. I am also considering the Hi-Point TS995 and the Ruger Mini 14. The Hi-Point is because of a commonality of ammo. Wish Taurus made one that used the PT809 mags. I saw the thread on the possibility...but I will wait and see on that.

I have always wanted an AR "type" rifle...do not know why....because its there????? Some of you gun psychologists will no doubt be able to tell me. No, I do not wet the bed..it looks like a kid puked on the paper...and yes I loved my Mother. Those questions out of the way I have found the AR I want at the price I want, CHEAP! They have many in stock. Well at least six. NOPE not telling you until I at least put MINE on layaway.
Best of all wife says to me this am...."why didn't you tell me you wanted an AR?" The easiest answer would have been: : "Jeez Deb don't you listen at all?" Sensing something was in the offing I was a tad more diplomatic....So get it when the tax return comes in!!!!

As G8R said, I would consider an AR in .308 or a nice AK with a folding stock and the thing that goes up.
