Hello! I just got my first Taurus today, a 1994 44SS8. I didn't receive a manual or box with it since it was a used gun. Any tips on cleaning? Ammo to use and NOT use and such would be appreciated.:icon_cool:

P.S. Any tips on cleaning the ports in the barrel?

Welcome from IA, and congrats on your Taurus purchase! I don't know much about your .44, but give it a good cleaning, use the mild loads for practice, and use the heavies for the real deal!

Welcome from New Mexico. I use Hoppes and a piece of greenie to clean my 617SS. As far as cleaning the ports go, someone else will have to give you some advice. I have never owned a ported gun so I do not have any experience with cleaning them.

Welcome to the best spit and whittle gun club in the US of A. We give advice and entertainment on A. Guns, B Food, C. Polyticks,
D. Ammo E. Knives F. handling Scum Bags G. The fairer sex...which ever that may be and generally anything but how to clean ports on a .44 magnum. Have no fear though, someone will attempt to wing it. If I were winging it, I would get one of those carbide multi-sized cleaners for cutting torches and brazing tips. I also suspect a round tooth pick would work.
