New Gun Porn

I know there a bunch of Hi-Point owners out there and I've joined the club. Just got this today. It's the 4595-TS, .45 ACP. A friend of mine has the .40 cal and I liked shooting it so I got my own. I went with the 45 because I have tons of reloading components for it. If not for that I definitely would have gone with the 10mm model which is recently released.

I've already added the factory compensator and the third party Red Ball 20 round mags. I also bought a Bushnell TRS-25 for it but haven't mounted it yet. I put 50 rounds through it today. Ran like butter. I'm going to have a lot of fun with this carbine!!

Say what you want about Hi-Point (and everybody does) but they really have a winner with this one. Everybody I know that has one says it runs like a top and is fun as allgitout to shoot.

Edit/Addendum: Aren't there some warranty issues using a non Hi-Point mag?

Edit #2: My mistake Red Ball mags are not aftermarket mags per se. That can be bought directly from HP.

So why is Redball able to make a straight 20 round mag for 45ACP but my 9mm mags look like boomerangs?

9mm is tapered, 45 is straight,

The 9x19 case has considerable more taper than the 45ACP.

As was answered the taper in 9mm is the reason but another nice feature of the 45 is once the magazine gets past the grip it goes to double stack. If not with those fat bullets it would have to be a mile long.

Very nice looking carbine. Ya gonna love it! I am still in the break in period with my 995TS. Up to 1200 rounds so far, still haven't done any serious cleaning (as per manual) , just a quick barrel bore clean with a bore snake and a few qtips around the breech. Still running like an energizer bunny. I will probably actually clean and lube after my next range session.

I have the 995TS with the Red Ball mags (in addition to two factory 10 rounders). It's dead reliable and very accurate. I don't think it looks that much worse than the other black guns. Had I bought it first, I probably not have bought my AR-15.

If we're just doing gun porn, I can share my AR collection:

18/16/10.5" - they each have their place and function. :)

Nice carbine, btw. :D

That is one awesome collection you have there! You obviously put a lot of time and effort (and cash!) into it. Great looking guns.

Thanks! I don't know about a lot of cash (I buy parts cheap and slowly assemble them), but time for sure. :)

Just found out that my local Academy sells Ruger and Savage AR stripped lowers for what are pretty reasonable prices. Might be getting that itch again...
