I just bought a Taurus 731 today, supposedly NEW. I have attached some pics. Seems it should be cleaner than this. What about the ring around the cylinder ?
Besides H&R Mags what other round can you shoot from this gun ?

Did your 731 have that wear ring around the outside of the cylinder ? I have noticed on utube most all Taurus with the matte finish has that ring. I think is from the cyl stop that sticks up to catch the timing slots on the cyl and it rubs the outside of the cyl. This is an educational experience for me.
From posters info I believe I am now OK with the gun, so far.

Who knows ??? I am sending in the warranty card so "its new" to me. I noticed on utube most of the Taurus revolvers have the ring. Its the "cylinder stop" that drags across the cylinder. All it would take is a couple thousands of clearance and it wouldn't happen. A design flaw.
I just got my NEW 94 w'5" barrel today. It had an ever so slightly noticeable ring. If it ever got bad enough a guy could take a scotch brite pad and buff up just the cylinder. The cyl would look different, but a lot of revolvers are like that. Or send it to Taurus and tell them to re-bead blast it.
