Did something different last night while staying down in Boca Raton. I'm new to CCW and being armed, so last night I took my PT92 with me and put it on the night stand next to the bed while staying in a mid to upper level hotel. Slept fine, just different. Does anybody else do that?

There is not a room in home that doesn't have some form of firearm hidden in it and I might add, safely out of the reach/use of children, better to be safe then sorry. I do have to admit that my newest toys get the most attention until they either get replaced by a newer toy, I rotate the stock (hehehe) or I go back to an old stand-by. When I travel and/or sleep over somewhere like a hotel, motel, camping or a friends house I always have a discrete bedside buddy.

Sadly, times are not like that of our grandfathers where you could leave your house doors unlocked and sleep with the windows open, protect yourself and always be on guard and no I am not a paranoid person, just a realist.

Thanks for the replies. I know what you mean about leaving the doors unlocked. We used to live in a small town and when we would travel, the doors were always unlocked. Even today, going up town to the restaurant early on any morning, the keys are still in 90% of the trucks at the coffe shop. Sadly, we don'tlive there any more.

Long before I had a carry permit I brought a weapon along regardless of whether it was a hotel or a campsite. Never needed it but it was comforting none the less.

Paranoid. Interesting word. I wonder what word they use for people who are blissfully unaware of todays reality, or who think they are good to go just because they bought a gun. Or even a LEO whose total awareness radar has gone to sleep and who merely punches the clock every day. Hm, what word...? For some, only time will tell.

I think they are known by two names: 1). Liberal polititions with socialist leanings (can we say Hilary?) 2. Victims.

Personally, I have carried a firearm either on me or in my luggage/vehicle for many years. Much of that was in rural areas and for use against 4 legged preditors and wild hogs. Some times when danger from the 2 legged types was present when traveling and before having a gun was such a big deal. Now I'm glad to be licensed. Like many, I carry most of the time, even when around my own house.
