New changes to guns, ammo, and airsoft policies at Walmart

They're raising the age to 21, going to stop selling some airsoft or BB guns, and will only sell a gun if the background check comes back okay. Sometimes if there is a delay, gun shops don't get a response within 3 days, or ever, so I've been told.

What will a 18-20 yr old do if they want to buy a hunting shotgun or shotgun ammo for hunting?

Walmart announces major change in gun policy (see full statement)

Really? First they came for the bumpstocks, then they came for the airsoft guns, and then they came for the Red Ryders?
Because, you know, mass murderers use BB guns and plastic pellets.

I am seeing plenty of BB guns on their website.

I guess they will have to wait. I am not happy about any of this I might add. They can vote (I don't agree with this and haven't for decades), they can serve in the military, but now they can't buy a long arm? This is a sad day for us all.

They haven't implemented it yet, it was just an announcement that they were going to implement it. (no mention of when)
Not sure how many of you remember Wal-Mart's announcement on "modern sporting rifles" but their decision to quit selling them was stated that it was due to a lack of sales. Not they're making it appear as though it was due to the evil black rifles and they were just ahead of the game. Sickening.

Walmart is not a great place to buy firearms or firearm accessories. This just adds to it.

Oh dear lord.

These days, the only time I go to Wal Mart is if I'm out of town and I find it first.

I’ve bought a looottt of ammo from WalMart over the years. Even bought 2 rifles from them last year. We’ll see how they proceed.

Oh I used to buy ammo there too. But their [local?] policies on ammo sales got too irritating and sometimes made it very difficult to purchase ammo. I buy from Academy now. Cheaper and easier.

Thanks for sharing the info here. But as far as I know if a boy/girl isn't legal age 21+ will not be able to buy a gun for himself/herself.

Just another reason not to shop at Wal-Mart.
Academy delivers.........free, if the price is over a certain $$ amount.

Just sayin......

This is a total ! I had a 22 & a 410 before I was a TEENAGER. My boys had long guns before they could drive. We never killed anybody & didn't have a background check. I bought ammo at my local hardware when I was in grade school. Used to walk down the rail road tracks after school in September to get to my uncles farm to walk behind the combine while they picked soy beans & bailed hay, with the gun slung over my shoulder. Lots of Pheasants around here in those days. Picture what would happen nowadays if someone did what we did.

Currently in Mi. they have a "MENTORED YOUTH PROGRAM" where-as a child under 10 may hunt under adult supervision. At 10 for $7.50 they may purchase a license that will allow them to hunt Turkey, deer ,small game & FISH FOR ANY SPECIES. A HUNTER SAFETY COURSE IS REQUIRED.

How are they to get guns to hunt with????? Will they use straws & BB's ? sticks? rocks? This is just plain UN-AMERICAN.

I guess I would SIGN a document allowing my child to take the background check to buy a weapon. I would do that now if 18 wanting to buy a pistol

I bought my Ruger gp100 at Wal-Mart back in 1993. This just sucks because the closest academy to me is 45 miles, there's 2 Wal-Mart's within 15 mikes.
Isn't it illegal to discriminate based on age?

You can't even buy those in New Jersey unless you have a Firearms Purchase Permit issued by the NJSP.

I still buy ammo and other things at Walmart (hard to be on a budget sometimes). Academy does have more ammo and its out on the shelves unlike Walmart. Pricing for ammo is very similar in my area, so I buy them at both
I quit buying ammo at walfart after my bud quit working the SG counter. Now, good luck finding the guy with the key, and if it's the old guy, prepare to get lectured when you buy certain calibers of ammo.

My local shop has better prices, and know me on a first name basis anyways. :D
