New AR Pistol Build

My latest AR build. This time I tried my hand at an AR pistol. Does not like low powered .223 ammo. Only the good stuff (.556). It might be because of the additional weight of the bolt carrier extension from the LAW Tactical Folding Stock!?! Anyway, it's a blast to shoot. Reminds me of the bang and flash from my .44 magnum, snub nose revolver.
Anderson Lower
Anderson LPK
Davidson Defense Upper (7.5")
PSA BCG
No Name Pistol Buffer / Tube Assembly
Shockwave "brace"
LAW Tactical Folding Stock/Brace Adapter (Fake Chinese Clone - $33 shipped)
Amazon folding sights
Amazon Red Dot sight
Ebay angled forward grip

I have maybe $450 as is.

Nice build. Like the folding stock. I built a 300 BO this summer. Changing the buffer might help with your ammo troubles. Good job though...congrats!

stupid question, but can you even shoot it with the buttstock folded?

Not sure of the bolt containment on that thing, but I would imagine that if you fired it with the stock folded, that the bolt would fly out and you might even get the round stuck somewhere in the barrel....so generally not a good idea :)
I'll bet that the fireball out of that thing is pretty amazing!

The GEN 3 LAW Tactical is made out of steel and there is a video of a guy on YOU TUBE firing one repeatedly while folded. Of course he had to unfold the stock and load the chamber each time like a bolt action rifle. There is a spring loaded catch built in the folding system that captures the bolt extension piece so the BCG will not fall out when the stock, I mean "BRACE", is folded. The Chinese knock-off is made out of aluminum and I would not fire mine in the folded position. Besides, where does all that gas go when it is not used to push the bolt carrier back? A lot of added pressure going thru the BCG needlessly. The purpose of the folding stock/brace is to be able to store/transport the pistol in a small, stealthy bag or backpack. It even fits in my daughter's old Hello Kitty backpack she used during kindergarten. Not that I would carry it that way. A 61 one year old man carrying a Hello Kitty backpack might draw some unwanted attention for sure.

Nice pistol!

I have a 7.5" AR pistol also. Its definitely a blast to shoot (pun intended). I would recommend a KAK flash can instead of a standard muzzle device so that the muzzle flash is not all over the place.

I've thought about adding the LAW folding adapter also but its so expensive. How is the fit and quality of the chinese clone? I might go that route since its much cheaper.

It is very well made. The adapter fits nice and tight to the lower receiver and does not rattle whether closed or folded. The bolt extension part needs a little sanding/filing to fit into the bolt carrier. I wanted to turn it on my friend's metal lathe but he was out of town and I was impatient and filed it until it would fit the bolt carrier. It may be .005" too big in diameter. I purchased it through AlliExpress (China's Amazon) for about $33. It took 8 days from the time I ordered it till the time it was delivered to my door. It took almost three weeks to receive my BCG from Palmetto State and I'm just next door to SC. I bought this one just to see if I liked the concept of a folding stock (brace) and if I would find it useful for transportation/storage. If this AR Pistol was my main/only firearm used to defend me and my family, I would most likely go for the better built GEN 3 LAW Tactical made in the USA. But, this AR Pistol is just a plinker to have fun with at the range and this clone folding stock adapter will suffice.
