New 809 SS

I thought I'd attach a couple photos of my new PT 809 SS. It arrived at my FFL Thursday from Buds Gun Shop. Took about a week for Buds to process my ACH payment and then another 3 days to ship it, but after it shipped it arrived fast.

I'm more impressed with it than I thought I would be. It strips like a Glock which is nice. In fact I showed it to a law enforcement friend of mine who seemed surprised with how well the gun seems to be crafted.

Both of us would like to take it to the range.... but it's still hard to find ammo here in South Georgia. I have a few boxes of high priced SD rounds, but I don't really want to waste that on a target.

I'm going to wait a bit and see if some of our local suppliers get in more stock, if not, I might have to get my brother to find some for me in Atlanta. He seems to report better availability up there.

I did strip it down last night and gave it a good cleaning to get all the factory grease out of it. To give you an idea of how it comes, you can still see quite a bit of lubricant on the spare mag in the second photo. I hand't cleaned it yet when I took the photo.

I'll post a range report as soon as I can get some ammo. :)

Congratulations on your new firearm.
Congrats, I hope you can locate some target ammo soon and take the new girl out on a date.
Congrats, that is sweet looking! I have the 809B and when you get some ammo and shoot that beauty you will be even more in love with it!
Congrats buddy. In the last 2 months I've purchased a PT140 and a PT92. Total of about 700 bucks for both. Good luck getting that from another manufacturer. Taurus is amazing on the wallet!
Congrats on the new family member! The 809 is a fantastic weapon. I love mine and can go 51 for 51 (3 mags) in an 8 in group at 12 yards. Just make sure you keep her clean and you should have no problems

EDIT: As far as ammo goes, try the local range. Many have restricted ammo sales to range use only and limit you to 1 or 2 boxes per caliber per day. GOOD LUCK!
congrats jason, that's a beauty. have fun with it. :thumb:
Congratulations on your new acquisition...ENJOY! :icon_ lala:
Congrats on a sweet gun!
I have an 809B and love it.
Congrats on the new pistol! I have the blue version but I'm a fan of the SS. Last I heard the ammo manufacturers should be getting back on track here in the coming weeks.

I'm in the boat with Eric! Love mine and congrats on yours!
For those of you that have the blued version, was there any particular reason you choose blued? I'm relatively new and thought that perhaps the stainless would be more durable.

I like the SS version just fine - my reasoning was it was the only one available at the time, and Academy was running a sale for $299.00.
I wanted an evil black handgun! LOL Actually it was on sale, and I liked the looks of it. I like the stainless also.
Enjoy yous. I love mine. Mine is also the ss version. Hope you get the joy of shooting yours soon.
I bought the same gun and I love mine. It is accurate as hell and a absolute pleasure to shoot. hope you find ammo soon.
I have the 809C, really happy with it! Hope you find some target ammo.. Enjoy!
Congrats on the 809 stainless. I have the 840 stainless on layaway at Buds. Glad it was in stock and I am going to get it because after I ordered it I looked at the Taurus site and saw they have discontinued the stainless version (at least in the 840). I think it is a great look.
Congratulations on your purchase of a really nice carry pistol!
