So I just picked up a new 24/7 last weekend and have taken it down a few time to get use to it. I noticed a thick grease on the area with the yellow circle. Should I be using the same thing or regular gun oil after cleaning? The thicker grease (or whatever it is) IMO seems to be a better choice for the area.

Sounds to me like factory preservative grease! I was told by my son, and many other people to get it all out of there prior to my first time firing and use an approved gun oil. I have heard after that, that some do use a grease, I do not!!

But if you did not clean it before firing, I personally would say clean it good, and use what ever lube you decide will work for you. Easier to clean up debris in oil for me, than debris in grease. Also grease would gum up sooner in my opinion.

I cleaned all of the grease out of the gun. Oiled the moving parts except for the spring, guide, and rails which I used a thin coat of lithium grease. The slide functioned much smoother and all was well.
