Just picked up my new PT1911, Tore her down and gave her a good cleaning hope to shoot it Friday if I can my wife from hiding it. (It is supposed to be my Christmas gift) I may have to get her a early present so I can go ahead and shoot it. Already told her I need to test it in case it has any malfunctions we have until Christmas to fix it. Plus the G10 Black and Grey grips will be here tomorrow.

I agree with uphill they are very good shooters. That's my opinion I've never shot a high dollar 1911 before but I love the way my two 1911 45's shoot and my RIA 9mm 1911 shot before I had it worked on.
You must have a smooth tounge to pull off Christmas in the middle of September

Very very small range report... Had a lot of things to do today after work, so I left 20 minutes early, 50 rounds with 0 malfunctions. No clue on grouping but hit a milk jug with every shot around 15 yards.

Does the PT1911 have the same matte black finish as Taurus' other firearms or is it an exception like the Spectrum and sports another finish? I ask because the finish on yours appears to be darker/glossier than their standard finish, although that could just be a trick of the light and whatever oil you're using.

They are still making them everyday but with Taurus you never know when they are going to drop it like the 38Super

I may have shortened the life of the bluing, but I don"t think so. I sprayed a little CLP on 0000 steel wool and gave it a little buff and it shined up alot. This gun isn't going to be a carry gun so no holster wear, so the little buffing shouldn't hurt it.

Well put 150 rounds of the crappiest dirty steel Monarch rounds that Academy has on sale for $12. Ran 100% Love this gun so far, although when I started to clean it the rear sight fell off, I was able to find a allen wrench to fit it snugged it up, going to sight it in and put a little lock tight on it next time out.

AHH--no big deal-- rear sights are way over rated anyway!
you could get rid of ALL THE SET SCREWS AND FIT THE SIGHTS THE correct way like they use to do.
