Could anyone please recomend a good leather belt holster for a 3" Mdl 605? Additionally I require a snap on the holster (Dept Policy).

Good, gun-specific holsters for the 3" 605 aren't easy to find. Check out simplyrugged.com. Decent leather holsters handmade by a chap in Alaska. He may be able to put a retention strap on one of his models for you. The pancake I bought doesn't have one but does have enough of a grip to keep my weapon from falling out.

I recently ordered a handmade custom leather holster from Fist, inc. they seem to make a very nice product. Many styles to choose from, including thumb breaks(snap) and many options available. Check them out, the Taurus 605 is on their gun list.

When you are checking out the various holster makers sites, keep an eye out for a Smith & Wesson Model 60 3". It a 3" barreled J frame which will use the same holsters as a 3" M605.

If not too often that I can't find somebody that has something that would work but a quick check of the likely prospects didn't turn up much. My best recommendation would be to contact some of the custom makers and see what they can do for you.

The best one I've used for my 605 is the Bianchi black widow. It meets all your criteria, rides nice and high, and has the retention strap. I've used one for a few years now and it works great. Also it's readily available thru midway usa and many other online vendors. I have one for my 605 and SW model 10.

That's the Beauty of this holster. It's open bottomed, it will work with any barrel length. My 605 is a two inch, but I have one for my three inch M10 that works just as well, and it's a bigger gun.

Being the case, then I would second taking a look at FIST. I got one of their close cropped shortcuts for my PT111 and it was delivered in less than a month, fits great and rides nice and high. They have many models to choose from, and they can add a thumb break to any of their styles.
