I have participated in the SCA for a few years and its a ton of fun and yes these battles do happen. Most of the events are what we call "Wet" which means that yes we drink allot of mead, bear, whiskey, stuff, and other stuff. I have watched these guys fight for hours. There is a reason the tops of the helms are rounded, its a real bell ringer. As far as guns well no but we use combat archers, will that work?
